What is Art reflections?

The National PTA Reflections program is an art competition that encourages students to explore an idea through artistic expression.
Through this program, students are encouraged to create an original art piece based on the provided theme.
The student artwork is judged and winners move up to the district, state, and national competitions.

What are the requirements to enter?

  • At least one member of the entry household must be a member of the Rogers PTA. Click here to join the PTA..
  • Each entry must be original and newly created by one student only for the competition.
  • All entries must include a completed entry form that includes signatures, a title, and an artist statement (10-100 words). The artist statement communicates what inspired the work, how it relates to the theme, and the content of the work.
  • Each category has additional requirements:
  • Use of copyrighted material is prohibited, except for recorded music in dance choreography and film production entries. Use of background music must be cited on the student entry form.

Does each entry need to look perfect?

This is a student competition, so the goal is showing the theme, rather than producing a perfect art piece.

For an example of previous entries, visit the Texas PTA Reflections Gallery.

When is each entry due?

All entries are due to the school by Wednesday, October 30th.

Please submit your entries virtually to artsineducation@rogersfriscopta.org.

WHAT Happens next?

After all entries are submitted, the entries are judged based on how well each student uses his or her artistic vision to portray the theme, originality, and creativity.

Winning entries move to the Frisco-wide district level competition. From the district level, winning entries proceed to the state competition and then to the national competition.

All students who participate will be recognized at GMR for their efforts.
