Volunteer Opportunities

There are many opportunities for parents to get involved at Rogers Elementary! Your help is needed, and even an hour can make a big difference!

Even if you work during the week, there are opportunities to help out at home in the evenings and on the weekends. For example, you can perform the following tasks:

  • Cutting and stapling projects for teachers
  • Creating posters and decorations for events
  • Cutting box tops

There are many opportunities to help out at Rogers during the school day.

Note: All volunteers at the school must complete a FRISCO ISD VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECK at least two weeks before volunteering at the school.

For example, you can perform the following tasks:

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students): Dads can spend a day helping out during drop-ff and pick-up as well as in their student classrooms. This is a great way for dads to bond with their kids.

Note: You must wear a Watch D.O.G.S. shirt while volunteering as a Watch D.O.G.S. dad.

Donation Drive Supervision: When students are gathering donations for the food drive, pet drive, or book drive, parents are needed to help organize the donations and assist the students where needed.

Guided Reading: Volunteers are needed periodically to help check in and organize the guided reading library that is used to support the classrooms. At the end of the year, help is also needed to inventory the guided reading library.

Health Screening: On health screening days, parents are needed to chaperone the students between the classroom and event.

Teacher Appreciation (monthly throughout the year): Volunteers are requested to prepare or provide food items and beverages for frequent luncheons as a thank you to the teachers who work hard to care for our Rogers students. You can show off your culinary prowess or provide pre-made or purchased treats to contribute to the event. Volunteers are also needed to help with setup and clean up of the event.

Help Out during events

There are numerous events throughout the school year where parent involvement is critical to ensure the success of the event:

Note: All volunteers at the school must complete a FRISCO ISD VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECK at least two weeks before volunteering at the school.

Grandparent Lunch (early September): Volunteers are needed to take pictures of grandparents and their students.

Boosterthon Fun Run (September): Parents are needed to serve water to the runners, and to mark laps on each runner's shirt. During the 4th and 5th run, volunteers may also be needed to help with the Color Run. You can volunteer for your child's grade level or for the entire morning!

Fall and Spring Book Fairs (October and April): Volunteers are needed to help decorate the school, set up the book fair, help students during preview, and help take down the fair. If you love books and reading, this task is perfect for you!

Art Reflections (Fall): Parents are needed to assist with the PTA Reflections Family Art Day. Volunteers assist with art stations, helping students and their families create art projects to provide inspiration with the current Reflections theme ("Within Reach").

Valentine Grams (February, before school and during lunch): Parents are needed to supervise the Safe School Leaders as they sell the valentines to their fellow students.

Clean It Green It (April): Volunteers are needed to help care for the areas around the outside of the school, including picking up trash, mulching trees, pulling weeds, and trimming the bushes and trees in the Texas garden. The volunteers can then join the city-wide festivities at IKEA to celebrate this special day.

Field Day (May): Volunteers are needed to supervise the students in each station inside and outside of the school. You can volunteer to support your student classrooms or for individual stations (such as BINGO and snacks).
